Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland is seeking a Refrigeration HVAC Technician II for the 2:30pm-11:00pm shift with call. You will join a dedicated Facilities Engineering team, maintaining and repairing a range of HVAC systems to support patient care and research environments.

The role demands hands-on work on refrigeration and air handling equipment, with training and mentorship provided by leadership. Experience in hospital settings is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • State of Ohio EPA approved certificate (Type I/II or Universal) required.
  • Minimum 3 years as a commercial/residential HVAC technician; military equivalents considered.
  • Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and related equipment (walk-ins, chillers, rooftop units).
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls and system alarms.
  • Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate/adjust refrigerant charges.

A caregiver in this position works 2 nd shift, 2:30pm-11:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Regularly inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and other equipment, such as refrigerators, freezers, walk-in coolers, medical and process chillers, cooling equipment, cryogenic freezers and rooftop heating/cooling units.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls, solid state microprocessors and system alarms.
  • Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate and adjust refrigerant charges.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • State of Ohio EPA approved certificate for either Type I and Type II or Universal Refrigerant Systems Service
  • Three years of experience as a commercial/ residential air conditioning refrigeration technician. Military experience as a Machinists Mate, Utilities man , Utilities Equipment Repairer or a similar role will be considered
  • Formal vocational classroom study in refrigeration, air conditioning and/or air handling may substitute up to 1 year of experience
  • Can read electric schematic diagrams
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Completion of a formal HVAC/Refrigeration training program
  • Work experience in a hospital setting

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to inspect equipment
  • Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to climb ladders
