Job summary

Safeway seeks a Refrigeration Technician to keep store facilities running safely and efficiently. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems, while performing preventive maintenance and documenting findings to prevent issues.

You will operate EMS/BMS controls, adjust schedules, order parts, and maintain compliance documentation. The role requires hands-on work, safety consciousness, and effective communication with store teams.

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willing to work overtime on weekends, holidays, and after-hours when on call.
• High School diploma or equivalent; vocational-technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks on equipment in Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
• Maintain refrigeration, HVAC, EMS, electrical, and mechanical systems; complete repairs as needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, leak checks, inspections, and new equipment installations; document findings.
• Operate EMS/BMS systems; adjust set points and schedules to optimize performance.
• Handle service calls, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safety and compliance.
