Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician in Wisconsin. The role supports plant maintenance across shifts, emphasizing safety, reliability, and teamwork to keep equipment running smoothly.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with trades training, RETA certification, and 2+ years in industrial maintenance, including ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems. Willingness to work all shifts is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with formal trades training or equivalent maintenance experience.
• Two years of industrial maintenance experience with knowledge in three or more relevant areas.
• RETA Certification is preferred.
• Ammonia refrigeration, engine and boiler systems, controls and instrumentation, PLCs, pneumatics and hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high pressure boiler systems and plant equipment.
• Plan and conduct equipment repairs as part of a team.
• Perform routine audits and inspections of machinery.
• Demonstrate troubleshooting abilities and safety leadership.
• Communicate openly with operations and respond to unplanned work or emergencies.
• Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices.

This individual will perform the duties of a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician and assist other maintenance personnel on his/her shift.

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

• Have High Pressure Boiler License; either ASOPE or NIULPE Power Engineer
• Have or be able to attain RETA certification
• Demonstrate strong safety leadership skills and follow safe work practices
• Work as part of a team to plan and conduct equipment repairs
• Conduct routine audits and equipment inspections
• Demonstrate troubleshooting abilities
• Maintain open and professional line of communication with operations
• Respond to unplanned/emergency work requests in a timely& effective manner
• Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices
• Be highly motivated and able to work independently

• This is afull timehourly position; all applicants should be willing to work all shifts (days/evenings/overnights), extendedhoursand weekends.
