Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician to join our maintenance team in California. You will support high-precision boiler and refrigeration systems, perform repairs, and work across shifts to ensure continuous production.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with trades training, RETA certification, and 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in related areas, including ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with formal trades training or equivalent maintenance experience.
• Two years of industrial maintenance experience in multiple areas listed.
• RETA Certification.
• Ammonia Refrigeration knowledge.
• Engine and boiler systems knowledge.
• Electrical and motor controls knowledge.
• Controls, instrumentation, PLC/software & hardware.
• Pneumatics, hydraulics, machining and fabrication basics.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work independently.
• Preference for related certs or degrees and full-time schedule including shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate as Refrigeration/Boiler Technician and assist maintenance on shift.
• Plan and conduct equipment repairs with a team.
• Perform routine audits and equipment inspections.
• Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Maintain clear communication with operations.

This individual will perform the duties of a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician and assist other maintenance personnel on his/her shift.

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

• Have High Pressure Boiler License; either ASOPE or NIULPE Power Engineer
• Have or be able toattainRETA certification
• Demonstrate strong safety leadership skills and follow safe work practices
• Work as part of a team to plan and conduct equipment repairs
• Conduct routine audits and equipment inspections
• Demonstrate troubleshooting abilities
• Maintain open and professional line of communication with operations
• Respond to unplanned/emergency work requests ina timely& effective manner
• Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices
• Be highly motivated and able to work independently
