Job summary

Surge Staffing is seeking an experienced Refrigeration / Boiler Room Operator for 1st shift in a busy manufacturing facility. You will operate, monitor, and maintain boiler, refrigeration, HVAC, and related systems, with emphasis on ammonia refrigeration and safety compliance.

The role requires prior boiler operator experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to work overtime in a union environment.

Qualifications

• Prior boiler operator experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years refrigeration maintenance or related experience preferred/required.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of plant safety and GMP requirements.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and plans.
• Knowledge of planned maintenance practices.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic computer and spreadsheet skills.
• Must be able to work scheduled hours and required overtime.
• RETA Level 1 Industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain boiler, refrigeration, HVAC, and related plant systems
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment involving ammonia and other refrigerants
• Perform daily inspections and operational checks of refrigeration and plant equipment
• Monitor ammonia refrigeration systems, coolers, HVAC systems, and related equipment
• Perform scheduled maintenance on evaporators, condensers, and other refrigeration equipment
• Monitor, clean, and repair plant systems including condensers and filtration systems
• Identify equipment issues and perform repairs to minimize downtime
• Change and clean filters as needed
• Maintain accurate equipment logs, records, checklists, and other required documentation
• Follow OSHA, EPA, GMP, and plant safety requirements
• Follow all Lockout/Tagout and other required safety procedures
• Request parts and supplies as needed
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Complete required paperwork and maintenance documentation

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration / Boiler Room Operator to maintain and monitor refrigeration, boiler, HVAC, and related plant systems in a busy manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have prior boiler operator experience and strong troubleshooting skills. Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred.

This is a union position with competitive pay, an attendance incentive, and opportunities for overtime.

Pay & Schedule

• Pay: $28.92–$33.20 per hour, depending on experience
• Attendance Incentive: Additional $2.25 per hour
• Shift: 1st Shift
• Start Time: 6:00 AM
• Schedule: Monday–Saturday
• Hours: May work up to 10 hours per day
• Weekend work: May be required
• Union position
