Job summary

Honolulu Freight Service Inc. in Honolulu, HI is hiring for a full-time Warehouse Associate to load/unload refrigerated and temperature-sensitive cargo and to move and stage freight for pickup and delivery.

You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and other equipment, review shipping documents, and maintain a clean, safe warehouse while providing professional service to customers and drivers. Candidates should have experience with freight handling, basic math, and strong

Qualifications

• Experience loading/unloading containers, trucks or trailers.
• Experience with refrigerated, frozen or temperature-sensitive cargo preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred; certification a plus.
• Experience with pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment preferred.
• Basic math skills and strong written/verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify freight and documentation.
• Customer-service oriented with professional communication.
• Comfortable using scanners, tablets, computers, GPS, and other devices.
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload refrigerated, frozen, and temperature-sensitive cargo.
• Safely move, stage, and organize freight for pickup and delivery.
• Inspect incoming/outgoing freight for damage, labeling, and packaging concerns.
• Handle temperature-sensitive cargo according to procedures to maintain product integrity.
• Monitor freight movement and ensure shipments are properly staged and secured.
• Review and process bills of lading, shipping documents, and delivery paperwork.
• Verify shipment quantities, pieces, and related information.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, scanners, and other equipment.
• Use electronic devices and scanners to track and document shipments.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service to customers, drivers, and staff.
• Address customer and freight concerns promptly and elevate unresolved issues to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and dock area.
• Work with warehouse, transportation, customer service, and other departments.
• Follow all company policies, safety rules, and regulations.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work overtime, weekends, holidays, or adjusted schedules as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned
