Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Robinson, Illinois seeks a Process Design Engineer II/III to contribute to refinery and organizational process optimization. The role focuses on identifying opportunities to increase throughput, improve yields, and optimize energy and water use in process units.

You will collaborate with project engineers, operations, and external vendors, develop design packages, and support safety reviews such as HAZOPs/LOPA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
• Two (2) years of process engineering experience within refining or heavy industry.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to refinery/organizational long-term strategy development and identifies opportunities to increase throughput, improve yields, increase reliability and optimize energy use in process units.
• Supports the development of process designs for new projects and unit modifications, including PFDs, PIDs, and heat/material balances.
• May perform process simulations and calculations to support equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, and energy optimization, and lead economic analysis and project ROI.
