Job summary

Marathon Petroleum invites students and recent graduates to join our Process Technology Operator Intern program in Texas City, Texas. This hands-on internship provides exposure to refinery operations, safety, and hands-on startup/shutdown activities under experienced operators.

You will develop technical, operational, and interpersonal skills for a career as a Refinery Operator. We seek candidates in a two-year Process Technology program or graduates within the last year, with a HS diploma/GED,

Qualifications

HS diploma or GED required.
Enrolled in a 2-year Process Technology program leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree, or recent graduate within 1 year.
Official college transcripts required.
Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Develop and apply technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities in refinery operations.
Monitor, regulate, troubleshoot, and support refinery process equipment and systems.
Learn outside field operations and process control functions.
Gather data, analyze results, and recommend operational adjustments.
Assist with refinery unit startups, shutdowns and other activities.
Understand refinery processes used to convert crude oil into fuels and products.
Follow all safety and environmental procedures in a refinery setting.
