Qualifications

Responsibilities

This internship is designed to provide students and recent graduates of a Process Technology program with practical exposure to refinery operations while developing technical, operational, and interpersonal skills necessary for a career as a Refinery Operator. The internship offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced Operators, learn refinery processes, and apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*** Develop and apply technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills in a refinery work environment under the guidance of refinery operations personnel.* Monitor, regulate, troubleshoot, and support the operation of refinery process equipment and systems.* Learn the responsibilities associated with both outside field operations and process control functions.* Gather operational data, analyze results, and assist with identifying appropriate operational adjustments or recommendations.* Assist with refinery unit startups, shutdowns, and other operational activities as assigned.* Build an understanding of refinery processes used to convert crude oil and other feedstocks into transportation fuels and other petroleum products.* Follow all refinery safety, environmental, and operational procedures while working in a controlled refinery environment. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*** High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.* Applicants must be either **third- or fourth-semester students** currently enrolled in a two-year Process Technology program leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree, or have **graduated from the program within the past year**. The **graduation date or anticipated graduation date must be included on the resume** to be considered for this internship.* Must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and not on academic probation.* Will be required to submit official college transcripts.* Must be at least 18 years of age.* A valid driver’s license is required.* Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship. **WORK SCHEDULE** Refineries operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Interns should be available to work day and night shifts and may transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including weekends and holidays, depending on operational needs. Overtime may or may not be required.
