Job summary

Chevron Pasadena refinery is seeking a Process Engineer to support unit daily operation, optimization, and reliability improvements under the Process Engineering Team Lead. This role emphasizes technical troubleshooting, process optimization, and safety collaboration to improve plant performance.

You will work with disciplines across the refinery to implement improved processes, support turnarounds, and contribute to gross margin enhancement and reliability initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineering is required.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in Process Engineering and/or Process Design in chemical, petrochemical, or refining facilities.
• Aptitude for applying chemical engineering fundamentals (mass transfer/distillation, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process control, kinetics).

Responsibilities

• Provide process troubleshooting support and technical recommendations; improve process engineering tools and write guidance/procedures.
• Participate in PHA, alarm management, and other studies to enhance plant safety and reliability.
• Identify gaps between current performance and best-in-class practices; recommend opportunities for improvement across the refinery.
• Conduct test runs to optimize process variables and evaluate plant performance and health.
• Provide technical support during unit outages, including work at heights and confined space entry.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines and groups.
• Network with subject matter experts to leverage shared expertise.
• Demonstrate Chevron principles and values, supporting diversity, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and safety.
• Be flexible to respond to refinery upsets during off hours.
