Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Mandan, North Dakota, is hiring an hourly Operator Technician to support refinery operations on rotating 12-hour shifts. The role includes monitoring units, collecting samples, performing permits, and adhering to environmental and safety standards.

The successful candidate will work in a 24/7 refinery environment under USW Local 10, with pre-employment testing and a nine-month probationary period.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic math, reading, writing, computer, and verbal skills.
• Willingness to perform fire and emergency response activities.
• Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule and overtime as required by business needs.
• Be fit to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Adherence to a strict drug and alcohol policy.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Live and demonstrate MPC’s core values.
• Wear all protective equipment including a self-contained breathing apparatus and participate in emergency response activities.
• Learn refining process operations and qualify on process jobs.
• Make periodic rounds per shift, monitor units, perform equipment isolation, collect samples, and write work permits.
• Understand tank farm operations and qualify on tank farm jobs including monitoring tank levels and transfers.
• Detect and respond to process upsets and emergency situations with appropriate response activities.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company procedures in waste handling and reporting.
• Maintain clean and orderly working locations.
• Complete other tasks within scope as requested.
