Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is hiring a Laboratory Technician at the St. Paul Park Refinery. This full-time, union-represented role operates on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with potential overtime.

The position emphasizes QA/QC, data integrity, and safe refinery operations in Minnesota. Eligible candidates hold a chemistry degree with lab coursework, possess strong analytical and wet chemistry skills, and have familiarity with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science equivalent with four college chemistry courses and two college chemistry labs.
• Strong analytical chemistry skills with emphasis on GC, UV/Vis, NIR, IC, DSR.
• Working knowledge and application of wet chemistry.
• Ability to follow procedures outlined by ASTM, AASHTO, EPA, and UOP.
• Extensive experience with PCs and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to work 12hr rotating shifts (days/nights).
• A valid Driver's License is required.
• A TWIC is required upon hire.
• Two years of industrial lab experience preferred.
• LIMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Testing of refining feedstock and intermediates to assist with daily refinery operations.
• Finished product testing to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Data interpretation and reporting.
• Apply QA/QC protocols to ensure high data accuracy.
• Basic instrumentation troubleshooting.
• Work safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
