Job summary

Ecobat in Middletown, NY is seeking a Refinery Helper to support daily refinery operations. This full-time, hourly position involves assisting operators, handling kettles and pumping equipment, and ensuring clean, safe work areas in a loud industrial setting.

You will follow training in safety, ISO familiarization, and LEAN JTE practices, perform physical labor as needed, and possess a valid US driver’s license and HS diploma.

Responsibilities

• Operates casting and super pumps, kettle mixers and bridge crane.
• Operates fork trucks and mobile cart; may train to operate Hi-Lo and man lift.
• Assists refinery operators in all areas of casting and refining.
• All equipment leaving a dirty area must be pressure washed to prevent tracking.
• Cleans spills as they occur.
• Performs kettle treatments with minimal assistance.
• Skims dross from molten metal in kettles.
• Monitors and adjusts temperatures on refining kettles.
• Cleans up around kettles and throughout the area.
• Keeps area neat, clean, and free of debris and obstacles.
• No waste left on ground or in improper containers.

Ii. Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Operates casting and super pumps, kettle mixers and bridge crane.
• Operates fork trucks and mobile cart. May also be trained to operate Hi-Lo and man lift if needed.
• Assists refinery operators in all areas of casting and refining.
• All equipment leaving a dirty area must be pressure washed to prevent tracking.
• Clean all spills as they occur.
• Performs all kettle treatments with minimal assistance.
• Skims dross from molten metal in kettles.
• Monitors and adjusts temperatures on refining kettles
• Performs clean up around kettles and throughout the area.
• Keeps work area neat, clean, and free of debris and obstacles.
• No waste (trash) left on ground or improper containers (banding, packaging, etc.)

Iii. Pre-hire Requirements

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places, in outside weather conditions, and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
