  • Interprets specifications and job orders in order to assign duties to workers. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and the safety and hygiene of the department.
  • Trains, communicates, and enforces workplace safety and hygiene policies and methods to employees. Evaluates tasks to recommend safe work methodology.
  • Complies with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $120,000.00 Annually

The Refinery Production Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations within a refinery to ensure efficient and safe production processes. This position is responsible for managing production teams, coordinating workflow, and maintaining operational standards to meet production targets and quality specifications. The supervisor will monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize output. Additionally, the role involves enforcing safety protocols and regulatory compliance to protect personnel and the environment. Ultimately, the Refinery Production Supervisor ensures that department operations run smoothly and safely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of refinery employees to accomplish the refining, casting, and storage of various lead alloys in a safe, clean, and efficient manner.
  • Reviews production schedules to estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production and safety schedules. Interprets specifications and job orders in order to assign duties to workers. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and the safety and hygiene of the department. Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency and safety of shop, department, and work crew.
  • Trains, communicates, and enforces workplace safety and hygiene policies and methods to employees. Evaluates tasks to recommend safe work methodology. Explains company policies and labor contract provisions to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Analyzes and assists in the resolution of work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Coordinate departmental activities with other departmental supervisors.
  • Complies with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience supervising a unionized workforce preferred.
  • Experience with metallurgy, material blending, and/or chemistry preferred.
  • Ability to direct shift operations, conduct crew meetings and training.
  • Leadership skills and self motivated.
  • Good interpersonal communications skills; written and verbal.

POST-HIRE TRAINING

  • Environmental training applicable to the job.

  • Job instructional training.
  • Quality system familiarization.
  • ISO 14001 awareness, EMS objectives and targets, plant significant environmental impacts.

  • Able to obtain a CPR Certificate and join the Confined Space Team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment. If duties require entry to an arsenic or cadmium-controlled area, appropriate respiratory protection must be worn.
