Job summary

Big West Oil LLC is seeking a Control Systems Engineer for our North Salt Lake refinery. You will own controls projects from design through start-up, and collaborate with operators to maximize unit performance while ensuring safe operations.

You will troubleshoot issues, implement projects, and create documentation. The role involves PHA/incident follow-ups, MOC verification, and support during turnaround maintenance to keep the refinery moving.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Systems) preferred.
5+ years’ experience in process/controls systems engineering.
Experience with Rockwell Automation control systems and safety systems.
Knowledge of ISA S84 compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

Monitor unit performance and be available by phone to discuss operator questions and concerns.
Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
Implement projects from design to on-site start-up and maintenance; document throughout.
Create and maintain documentation for the control system.
Lead and/or participate in incident investigations.
Ensure completion of PHA and incident recommendations.
Verify MOCs, PSSR and training for process changes.
Provide DCS engineering support for turnaround maintenance/projects.
