Florida Digestive Health Specialists LLP in Englewood, FL is seeking a Patient Referral Specialist to manage incoming and outgoing referrals, schedule appointments, verify authorizations, and coordinate with providers and patients to ensure smooth care transitions.

The ideal candidate will excel in delivering exceptional patient service, maintain accurate EMR data in eCW, and collaborate with clinicians, front desk staff, and insurance companies to optimize the referral process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical office administration is a plus.
• Proven experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in appointment scheduling or customer service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsabilités

• Receive, review, and process new patient and established patient referrals from healthcare providers and other referral sources.
• Communicate with referring providers to obtain complete and accurate referral documentation.
• Enter patient referral information into the EMR system and ensure all necessary data is recorded.
• Schedule appointments.
• Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met and enter copays and insurance information into eCW.
• Check for and obtain authorizations before scheduling appointments.
• Contact insurance companies to verify patient plans and coverage options.
• Gather information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs.
• Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
• Answer phone calls and speak with patients about appointment openings, cancellations, and referrals.
• Perform referrals through P2P for MIPS.
• Comply with HIPPA and other privacy regulations to ensure the confidentiality of patient information.
• Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by management.
