Position: Referral Specialist

Location: Administration, 103 Maine Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401, USA

Are you a motivated individual with a keen ability to follow through on tasks big and small? Do you have medical office experience? PCHC is seeking Referral Specialists to join our dynamic and growing team! As a Referral Specialist, you will provide a comprehensive referral experience to our patients, playing a vital role in connecting them to the care and outside services they need. We are looking for someone resourceful, detail-oriented, with excellent follow-through skills, and ready to make a difference. Interested? Apply today!

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm (Remote work possible after successful completion of a 6-month training period and productivity assessment in Bangor, Maine. Candidate must be eligible per PCHC's Telecommuting Policy.)

Position Highlights:

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and external customers by demonstrating friendliness, helpfulness, and proficiency.
  • Process referral and prior authorization requests accurately and efficiently. Verify insurance benefits to ensure services are covered.
  • Act as liaison and point of contact with outside specialty offices regarding referrals.
  • Properly scan, import, and process patient health information related to referrals, ensuring compliance and confidentiality.
  • Follow HIPAA laws, regulations, and PCHC medical records policies regarding health information management.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Engage and support patients to ensure they feel heard, respected, and involved in their care.
  • Collaborate with Health Information Management teams and clinics to improve patient experience and referral processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in Medical Office Technology, Health Information Management, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in computer programs and software required
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience required
  • Two years healthcare office experience strongly preferred
  • Completion of Medical Terminology I course preferred
