EDUCATION (must be required for position), LICENSE, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Licenses: No current licenses required
  • Certifications* No Current certifications required
  • Experience Preferred one year experience in the medical field. Preferred one year experience working with insurance companies, and two to five years of experience in the customer service field.

REQUIRED SCREENINGS:

  • 4. Background check (Criminal, Civil, Educational, Previous Employment, etc.)
  • 5. Driver Record screen (positions requiring on-the-job driving)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains a standard level of professionalism with patients, public and colleagues.
  • Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
  • Responds to all inquiries professionally preserving confidentiality.
  • Maintain a positive and professional conduct through both verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Maintains patient/resident/employee privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service education.
  • Practice effective interpersonal skills and work productively as a member of a team.
  • Allow patients the opportunity to be involved in decision-making as appropriate.
  • Assist with and/or performs routine duties that do not require a specific professional license. (i.e. fax insurance companies, medical records, etc.)
  • Answer phones as needed.

  • Ensure that your station is clean and free of clutter at all times.
  • Maintains patient/resident/employee privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Assemble information concerning the patient's clinical background and referral needs; per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to specialists; review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
  • Prioritizes referrals by their urgency and addresses them in a timely manner; maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety.
  • Participates in the selection, orientation and training of referral processes.
  • Reviews details and expectations about the referral with both ordering providers and patients; requests new referrals to be ordered when applicable.
  • Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
  • Point of contact for patients and specialists for any questions or rising concerns. Assist in problem solving potential issues related to their referral due to language or social barriers, and transportation. If unable to help, assist in finding the right point of contact to further help.
  • Accurately and truthfully complete patient records for the referral process in a timely manner.
  • Work harmoniously with Physician and Clerical staff to meet patient needs; assist Medical Office Specialists with check-in/out process; serve as backup for Medical Office Specialists vacations, illnesses, lunches, etc.
  • Complete daily routine assignments.

Wage starts at $19.10 per hour and goes up based on experience
