Job summary

Axis Community Health in Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Referral Coordinator Lead to oversee specialty referrals, handle insurance authorizations, and ensure HIPAA compliant documentation across the referrals team. You will lead process improvements, coordinate with providers and clinic staff, and train coordinators to deliver exceptional patient service in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in a medical office, and strong communication in English;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years in a medical office with lead/supervisor experience preferred.
• HIPAA guidelines knowledge required.
• Medical terminology knowledge required.
• Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or in a team.
• English fluency; Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and coordinate specialty referrals, including insurance authorizations.
• Lead the Referrals team and assist in new process implementation.
• Monitor referral work queues to ensure timely processing.
• De-escalate and resolve patient issues and inquiries.
• Collaborate with providers, staff, billing, and external offices to resolve barriers.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance in all activities.
