Job summary

St. Luke’s Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Referral Specialist for the Centralized Referral Center. You will manage referrals from primary care and St.

Luke’s Medical Group physicians to specialists, contact patients, schedule appointments, and coordinate insurance authorizations. The specialist follows up to ensure scheduling and handles inbound/outbound communications with patients via phone, text, or email.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in a health care setting, call center or customer service preferred.
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage referrals from primary care and St. Luke’s Medical Group to specialists.
• Contact patients, schedule appointments, and coordinate insurance authorizations.
• Follow up to ensure patients are scheduled; respond to inbound calls and make outbound calls.
• Take online requests and assist scheduling; schedule same-day appointments when appropriate.
• Communicate with patients by phone, text, in person, or email; document information accurately.
