Job summary

MarinHealth in Greenbrae, CA is seeking a Referral and Authorizations Coordinator to support providers by obtaining referrals and prior authorizations for specialty care. You will work with clinic staff, payers, and patients to ensure timely processing and accurate scheduling.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in health care, knowledge of CPT/HCPCS/ICD-9, and experience with Epic or APeX. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential, with a commitment to HIPAA and quality

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of experience in health care and 2 years with insurance prior authorizations and referrals.
• Medical terminology; CPT/HCPCS/ICD-9 coding knowledge.
• Epic and/or APeX experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Processes referral requests and obtains authorizations per program guidelines.
• Collaborates with physician office staff to ensure timely referrals and scheduling within departments.
• Communicates with payers, patients, and health plans via secure messaging, phone or written correspondence.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality; supports recordkeeping and data entry.
• Assists with insurance verification, registration, and other Patient Access tasks as needed.
