Job summary

City of Springfield Library seeks a Library Specialist to provide reference and instructional services to the public across branches and regional libraries. You will monitor periodicals, assist with web maintenance, and help develop bibliographic aids for system-wide use.

You will plan instruction for students and the general public, participate in staff training, and lead special projects to enhance services for diverse audiences in a dynamic library environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and MLS from an ALA-accredited program.
• Two+ years of experience in a library environment.
• Knowledge of reading interests and developmental stages of children and teens.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and instructional services to the public, branches and regional libraries.
• Monitor periodicals collection; assist with web maintenance and bibliographic aids.
• Plan and deliver bibliographic instruction for students and the public; participate in staff training.
• Initiate special projects to develop services for diverse audiences and support system-wide operations.
• Engage in outreach, books by mail, displays and reader advisory activities.
