Job summary

The Utah State Archives in Salt Lake City seeks a Reference Archivist to provide core reference support and respond to requests with exemplary customer service in person, by phone, and by email.

This role includes organizing tasks, backing up the repository, handling circulation duties, and facilitating access to the State's permanent collections through archival research and outreach materials.

Qualifications

  • Minimum focus on customer service and information literacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience with Google Suite is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides core reference support, which includes triage of reference requests, responding to reference requests.
  • Deliver high quality of customer service through multiple means, i.e., phone, email, in-person.
  • Organizing and self management of assigned tasks.
  • Providing back up support in the collection repository, basic circulation functions and duties.
  • Ability to provide in-person customer service to the public, researchers, and other government agencies.
  • Ability to conduct archival research in the State's permanent collections to facilitate access.
  • Ability to create access and finding tools to help facilitate research and access. This also includes the ability to create outreach resources, i.e., blogs, social media posts.
  • Understanding of Utah's history and records generally held by the State. Allowing for facilitated access to other repositories as needed.

Salary – $20.87 - $33.08 Hourly Wage
