Job summary

Tharp Consulting in Memphis is seeking a Teacher, Alternative Education to support at-risk and nontraditional middle and high school students in a small, structured classroom. You will deliver personalized, credit-bearing instruction that helps students reengage in learning, including those who have dropped out or are at risk of doing so.

You will design differentiated lessons, provide trauma-informed behavior management, track credit progress, and collaborate with partner districts and families

Qualifications

• Experience teaching middle/high school students, especially in alternative or nontraditional settings.
• Strong skills in differentiation, instruction, and classroom management.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and student-centered engagement.
• Ability to use student data to guide instruction and document progress.
• Effective communication and collaboration with families and school partners.

Responsibilities

• Design differentiated lessons aligned to credit-bearing academic requirements.
• Provide trauma-informed behavior management and a supportive learning environment.
• Track academic performance and monitor student credit progress.
• Collaborate with partner school districts and families to support student growth.
• Support successful transitions back to traditional education and/or postsecondary pathways.
