Job summary

Seaboard Marine is seeking a hands-on Reefer Maintenance Helper to support our Reefer Department in a fast-paced terminal environment. You will inspect and prepare refrigerated containers, assist with agriculture inspections, and help mechanics with maintenance tasks while following safety procedures.

Required are basic English literacy, tool usage, and the ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
• Experience and ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, saws, drills, wrenches, hammers, scrapers, and hammers.
• Possess organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to obtain internal forklift certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-trip cleaning and washing of reefer containers, including sweeping, pressure washing, and debris removal.
• Inspects empty reefer containers for damage, cleanliness, and serviceability; reports deficiencies as needed.
• Applies and maintains container status tags to identify equipment readiness, repair needs, and wash requirements.
• Assists with plugging and unplugging reefer containers in accordance with operational and safety procedures.
• Supports reefer mechanics with pre-trip inspections and preparation of reefer units and chassis.
• Assists with the execution of agriculture inspections.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area while adhering to all safety requirements.
• Maintains awareness of surrounding equipment, vehicle traffic, and personnel to promote a safe work environment.
