Hamtramck Recycling is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support daily operations at our Hamtramck, MI facility. You will operate loaders, skid steers, and forklifts to move recyclables, load compactors, and help maintain a safe transfer yard.

The role requires at least 1 year of heavy equipment experience, valid certifications, and a commitment to safety. You will perform pre- and post-operation checks, report issues, and coordinate with truck drivers and yard staff to keep material

Formación

• 1 year of heavy equipment experience in a recycling yard/transfer station.
• Valid equipment certifications (e.g., loader, skid steer, forklift); CDL a plus.
• Mechanical awareness to identify/report issues with equipment.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and operate equipment in all weather.
• Strong safety and traffic awareness on site.
• Clear communication with coworkers and supervisors in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptable to changing priorities and tasks.

Responsabilidades

• Operate loaders, skid steers, and forklifts to move and load recyclables.
• Load materials into compactors and transfer trailers; monitor performance.
• Keep tipping floors and loading areas clear; manage material flow for safety.
• Perform daily pre-/post-operation inspections of equipment.
• Report malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance.
• Assist with sorting and staging material streams.
• Maintain yard areas and keep areas clean and organized for safety.
• Follow OSHA and site safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Coordinate with drivers and yard staff for smooth operations.
• Log machine hours, inspections, loads, and incidents.
