Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Recycling & Warehouse Assistant Manager to join the Recycling & Warehouse - Millsteam team. The role supports the warehouse manager in operations, customer service, and staff leadership, with a focus on safety, ethics, and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; some college preferred.
• One year of management experience is required.
• Valid MO or IL driver’s license and insurance required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills include quality decision-making, goal-setting, and problem-solving.
• Comfortable with registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Warehouse Manager in overseeing warehouse and recycling operations, budgets, and goals to meet or exceed targets.
• Model core values to uphold a culture of safety, ethics, and quality.
• Supervise, direct, and train staff and ensure they perform core duties.
• Provide superior customer service to ensure donor/shoppers/staff retention and resolve conflicts quickly.
• Coach employees on performance, including discipline up to termination.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operations and identify staff for advancement.
• Safeguard property and reports on theft or misconduct to management/Human Resources.
• Read and enforce agency policies and values.
• Arrange for replacements of absent employees; audit payroll.
• Eliminate wasteful practices via process improvements.
• Maintain professional appearance per dress code.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists the Warehouse Manager in overseeing warehouse and recycling operations, resources, and budgets to ensure all goals and benchmarks are met or exceeded.
• Model core values to uphold a culture with an understanding and commitment to safety, ethics, and quality within the store.
• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
