Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Recycling Foreman to lead daily operations at the Columbus plant. You will supervise laborers and equipment operators, ensure safety and quality standards, and coordinate production for inbound and outbound materials.

The role requires strong knowledge of plant operations, safety procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members. Candidates should be prepared for flexible hours and hands-on leadership on site.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of plant operation.
• Knowledge of recycling industry preferred.
• Prior experience as a foreman/lead or in a supervisory capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all safety and compliance standards are met or exceeded
• Ensure proper PPE is utilized by employees, as well as consistent compliance with Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
• Work with plant manager to ensure that production and quality standards are being met for inbound and outbound materials
• Coordinate work schedules for laborers and equipment operators
• Assign tasks in daily operations of the recycling plant
• Monitor and advise supervisor/manager of policy or procedure violations
• Foresee problems and take the necessary steps to correct them, i.e., Troubleshooting equipment and personnel problems
• Operate recycling plant equipment (i.e., loaders, forklifts, skid steers, compactors, balers, yard and roll off truck)
• Responsible for housekeeping in assigned area including equipment and work areas
• Maintain timely, appropriate, and professional communications
• Maintain appropriate weekly and monthly reports
• Utilize scale dispatching software to provide coverage and assistance as needed
• Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Recycling Foremen are responsible for ensuring that production and quality standards are being met. The Recycling Foreman provides leadership in directing the tasks and safety of Laborers and Equipment Operators in the plant.

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Computer proficiency

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• General knowledge of plant operation

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbs
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
• Rarely working outside in changing temperatures
• Occasionally working in wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Rarely climbing and/or balancing
• Occasionally sitting
• Frequently standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
