Job Summary

The Recycling Driver and Sorter is responsible for collecting batteries from multiple customer locations. This position unloads and organizes batteries in the company warehouse for recycling purposes. They will place recycling materials in assigned area by chemistry using a high level of accuracy. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager and has no direct reports.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Retrieve batteries from customer locations.
  • Work and drive safely, follow all safety requirements and state driving regulations.
  • Complete all training as required.
  • Carefully identify, sort, and label batteries for recycling based on various chemistry.
  • Load and unload various batteries.
  • Communicate and offer excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
  • Communicate with management frequently on progress or issues.
  • Work independently or with a team in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Key Performance Measurements:

  • A score card that reflects team performance in areas such as safety, efficiency, work order completion, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution.
  • Management observation regarding attitude, diligence, team contributions, and willingness and ability to learn new skills and information.
  • Other key performance indicators determined by the direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School or GED Diploma required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass additional requirements under the Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Experience with driving and operating large vehicles and use of the lift gate.
  • Experience, or ability to learn to, operate the following warehouse equipment: pallet jack, hand truck, barrel dolly, single steel drum grabber, forklift drum tilt ring.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Bi-lingual ability highly desired.
  • Ability to organize work and to work independently, with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices.
  • Clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs.
  • Possess ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime.
