Job summary

The Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) is seeking a Recycling Coordinator to join our team in Lancaster, PA. The role plans, administers, and evaluates the Recycling Program, with emphasis on Act 101 compliance, market analysis, and program promotion.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field, 1–4 years of experience, and the ability to obtain PROP CRP Certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, business, or related field with 1-4 years of experience in similar position or related field, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Ability to acquire and/or maintain 30-hour PROP Certified Recycling Professional (CRP) Certification.
• Strong familiarity with recycling commodity markets.
• Strong familiarity with Pennsylvania State and Federal recycling laws.
• Ability to acquire and maintain other requested certifications/trainings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide recycling technical assistance to mandated municipalities to ensure compliance with Act 101 and non-mandated municipalities to foster success with voluntary recycling programs.
• Assist municipalities with the single-hauler recycling/refuse contracting process.
• Support municipal coordinators for annual report data collection, Section 902 recycling program implementation grants, and Section 904 recycling program performance grants.
• Manage the Annual Recycling Reporting process, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
• Participate in recycling public education and outreach events as requested.

LCSWMA is seeking a Recycling Coordinator to join our team!

The Recycling Coordinator plans, administers, and evaluates LCSWMA's Recycling Program as described in the Lancaster County Municipal Waste Management Plan. Recycling program management includes understanding
local, national, and global recycling markets and the impact on Lancaster County’s programs. This includes providing technical assistance to local municipalities, supporting internal recycling initiatives, research and data management, grant preparation and administration, and general promotion of the program within the community.
