Job summary

Oconee County is hiring for a Recycle Center Attendant to monitor and screen waste and recyclables delivered by residents. The role involves assisting the public, sorting materials, directing residents to proper containers, and ensuring site safety and cleanliness.

Requires a valid state driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent. The position supports the Recycle Center Crew Leader and Solid Waste Director, with tasks ranging from opening/closing the center to minor maintenance

Qualifications

• Ability to perform semi-routine work following procedures with occasional problems.
• Ability to use basic addition and subtraction.
• Ability to read simple sentences, instructions, or work orders.
• Ability to write simple sentences and complete simple job forms.

Responsibilities

• Verify access for residents and identify vehicles; direct unauthorized users to proper facilities.
• Open/close the recycle center and provide timely service.
• Assist the public with recycling guidance and resolve conflicts.
• Direct traffic and sort recyclables, removing contaminants.
• Monitor container volumes and notify when full for prompt emptying.
