Job summary

The University of Florida is seeking a RecSports Student Assistant - Member Services Associate at the Main Campus in Gainesville. You will serve as the first contact for RecSports members, handle memberships at the Welcome Desk, and help participants with the Recreational Sports program.

This on-campus, part-time OPS position requires evening and weekend availability, strong communication, and a commitment to customer service excellence. Training and certifications will be completed after hire.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or front desk roles is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Availability to work nights and weekends.
• Ability to commit 9-12 hours per week.
• Must maintain UF online certifications after hire.

Job Description:

The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for Member Services Associates to join our energetic team and move Gators towards lifelong wellbeing! Member Services Associates serve the department by delivering exceptional customer service to our patrons, serving as the first point of contact for RecSports members, and managing access to both Southwest Recreation Center and Student Recreation and Fitness Center.

Job Position Responsibilities

• Monitor access to the facility at the Welcome Desk to ensure only valid users and their guests are admitted.
• Have knowledge of membership options and guide patrons through purchasing a membership.
• Assist program participants and facility users regularly, on the phone and in person, with all aspects of the Recreational Sports Program.
• Make referrals to appropriate areas as necessary.
• Be knowledgeable of all Recreational Sports and University Programs.
• Work independently and be resourceful in order to assist patrons and provide excellent customer service.
• Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures.

RecSports Fall Kick-Off 2027: Tuesday, August 17th 8am – 9:30am

• Fall Kick-Off is our all-staff event to discuss department-wide updates, facilitate unit training sessions, as well as cultivate community and positive energy within our RecSports team. All RecSports Student Staff are expected to attend and will be paid for their training time.

$15.00 per hour

Required Qualifications:

• Availability to work nights and weekend hours
• Availability to work 9-12 hours, at minimum, each week
• Successful completion of department & unit training requirements once hired
• Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811 once hired

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
