The Recruiter will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on‑the‑ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

The Recruiter plays a critical role in driving full‑cycle recruitment efforts across HCZ and Promise Academy. This role partners closely with hiring managers to attract, assess, and hire top talent while delivering a high‑quality, inclusive candidate experience. The Recruiter owns the recruitment lifecycle—from sourcing strategy through offer negotiation—while ensuring alignment with organizational goals, hiring timelines, and employer brand standards.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of progressive full‑cycle recruitment experience
  • Experience working in a high‑volume or fast‑paced hiring environment
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system (ATS); Workable experience a plus
Who You Are
  • A strategic partner who can influence and advise hiring managers while delivering effective hiring solutions
  • Experienced in developing and executing sourcing strategies across multiple channels
  • Skilled at managing multiple requisitions and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and relationship building skills
  • Highly organized with strong time‑management and follow‑through
  • Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
  • A proactive problem solver with a customer‑service mindset
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and mission‑driven
What You’ll Do

Full‑Cycle Recruitment & Hiring Strategy

  • Manage full‑cycle recruitment for an assigned client group across Promise Academy
  • Build and maintain strong, trust‑based relationships with hiring managers and school leadership, partnering closely to define hiring needs, job descriptions, and candidate profiles
  • Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies to attract diverse, high‑quality talent
  • Advise hiring managers on market trends, candidate expectations, and hiring best practices
  • Facilitate regular check‑in meetings with school leadership to track progress, address hiring challenges, and adjust strategies as needed

Sourcing & Talent Pipeline Development

  • Source candidates through multiple channels, including job boards, social media, professional networks, referrals, and recruitment events
  • Build and maintain strong talent pipelines for high‑volume and hard‑to‑fill roles, including engaging passive candidates and nurturing long‑term talent pools within the ATS
  • Represent HCZ at hiring fairs, networking events, and school‑based recruitment initiatives to attract high‑quality, mission‑aligned candidates

Candidate Experience & Interview Process

  • Screen and assess candidates to ensure alignment with role requirements and organizational values
  • Guide candidates through the interview process, ensuring clear communication and a high‑quality, “white glove” experience
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Coordinator to facilitate seamless interview logistics
  • Prepare hiring teams with interview frameworks, rubrics, scorecards, and best practices

Offer Management & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner closely with school leadership to draft, review, and finalize offer letters and secure necessary approvals prior to extending offers
  • Lead offer processes, including compensation discussions, negotiations, and closing candidates
  • Conduct reference checks in partnership with HR and ensure all pre‑employment requirements are completed
  • Maintain consistent, proactive communication with candidates, stakeholders, and hiring managers throughout the hiring process to align on staffing needs and timelines
  • Serve as an ambassador of HCZ, strengthening employer brand and external partnerships

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and manage recruitment activity within the ATS (Workable or similar) and monitor hiring metrics, pipeline health, and time‑to‑fill goals
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes, workflows, and candidate experience
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and distribute recruitment communications and marketing materials that support hiring initiatives
  • Support hiring events such as career fairs, information sessions, and interview days
Schedule
  • Monday‑Friday
  • 3/2 Hybrid Schedule
