Job description

About the position:

This position will be assigned to the Beale Pools, Beale AFB, CA. This is a temporary position, not to exceed November 1, 2025. This position is flexible, not guaranteed hours and does not receive benefits. This position has physical lifting requirements which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.

During the announcement, applications will be pulled and reviewed for consideration every 1st and 15th of the month.

Duties

Provides swimming lessons and instruction to groups of adults and/or children, or to individual adults or children. Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Works in a swimming pool environment where lifeguards are present to perform lifesaving activity. May assist lifeguards in inspecting pools for safe conditions and perform other duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming pool to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks.

Requirements
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures as well as pool safety and pool maintenance requirements.
  • The position requires the following certifications: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Basic First-Aid, and American Red Cross Lifeguard Training.
  • This position has physical lifting requirements which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This is a temporary position, not to exceed November 1, 2025.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have the following certifications: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Basic First-Aid, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. Must have experience that can provide practical knowledge of instructional and developmental teaching methods, swimming activities, and following rules and procedures when using safety equipment desired.
