Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, Inc. in West Orange, NJ seeks a Recreational Therapist to plan and deliver therapeutic recreation services to patients across inpatient rehab settings.

The role requires CTRS certification, a Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, and BLS (or completion within 90 days). Per Diem shifts run 9 AM–5 PM, with a minimum of 2 shifts per month including weekend and weekday needs. Compensation is $32 per hour.

The Recreational Therapist plans and implements appropriate recreation activities for patients in accordance with guidelines set by the organization, hospital, and the profession. Responsible for the provision of therapeutic recreation intervention for an assigned caseload. Ensures all patients are oriented to recreation therapy and provides hospital-wide leisure, social, and divergent programs. Serves as an educator to patients on community resources.

Minimum Requirements

• National certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required to start
• Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) or completion within the first 90 days of employment is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Acute Rehab preferred
