Job summary

Jackson Purchase Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Recreational Therapist for full-time day shifts in Mayfield, KY. The role collaborates with primary care to plan and implement therapeutic recreation programs.

You will assess patient needs, coordinate treatment plans, and support discharge planning within a multidisciplinary team. Relevant certifications and hospital experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification.
• Current Recreational Therapist license.
• BLS required Handle with Care (within 3 months of hire)
• One year of experience in Recreational Therapy in a hospital setting preferred, experience in treatment planning and implementation highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conducts evaluation and develops a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselor using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities.
• Pre-certifies patient care and conducts ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.
• Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.
• Formulates a goal-directed plan of care with the multidisciplinary treatment team using assessment data.
• Updates treatment plan weekly or more often as needed and coordinates therapeutic recreation activities for groups.
• Assists with discharge planning in timely and documented standards.
• Provides patients and families with information regarding leisure lifestyles and local resources.

How You'll Contribute

A Recreational Therapist performs structured evaluations and develops a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselor using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities.

• Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
• Pre-certifies patient care. Conducts ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.

• Formulates a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment date from the Interdisciplinary Assessments.
• Updates Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed. Coordinates therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
• Assists with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.
• Provides patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure life styles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.

What We Are Looking For
