Job summary

Adelphi is seeking a Recreational Therapist to provide services at a residential behavioral health facility located in Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico. The position is a 1-year contract with a 40-hour workweek, Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm, offering a competitive hourly rate.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Therapy and NCTRC certification, plus at least 1 year of pediatric/adolescent clinical experience, especially with behavioral health or trauma-informed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Therapy.
• National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
• At least 1 year of experience working with youth in clinical or therapeutic settings, especially behavioral health, co-occurring disorders, or trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual assessments of each resident at admission.
• Develop individualized recreation therapy treatment plans based on assessment.
• Plan and implement individual and group activities for adolescents using recreational therapy techniques for youth with chemical dependence, emotional and behavioral disturbances.
• Document progress in the resident's medical record regarding objectives and treatment plans.
• Plan, implement and evaluate adventure-based programming (camping, fishing, cross country, skiing, hiking, backpacking).
• Identify and procure equipment needed for planned activities.
• Ensure recreation component adheres to The Joint Commission standards.
• Attend and participate in treatment team meetings and plan reviews.
• Collaborate with facility staff to provide holistic treatment services.
