Job summary

Advanced Recovery Systems, LLC is seeking a dedicated Part Time Recreational Therapist to join our team. Schedule: 1p-7p on Monday, Friday, and Saturday (4th day optional). The role supports patients in PHP and IOP levels of care within our behavioral health framework.

The Recreational Therapist will plan, direct, and document recreation programs, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery and well-being in addiction, substance abuse and mental health contexts.

Qualifications

• Experience in recreational therapy services is preferred.
• Ability to plan and facilitate recreational therapy groups.
• Ability to document patient progress and treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate recreational therapy groups and document session notes within 24 hours in accordance with treatment plan goals
• Create evidenced based content of recreational therapy curriculum
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure 100% group attendance and participation
• Observe, assess and record patient participation and progress during recreational sessions
• Plan, organize, and direct recreational activities to facilitate patient recovery and well-being which may include off-site outings
• Coordinate and facilitate activities committee meeting to ensure distribution of monthly activities calendar
• Ensure inventory of supplies are provided on-site
• Assist clinical team to develop a treatment plan to meet needs recreational needs of the patient
• Use substance abuse and co-occurring therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques to assist patients with accomplishing all treatment plans goals and objectives and successfully complete treatment.
• Prepares and submit reports and charts to treatment team to reflect patient progress
• Uses information from medical records, staff and patients to assess patient capabilities and interests
• Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities
• Evaluate effectiveness of services provided with the assistance of the Clinical Director
• Assists the clinical team with patient interventions when needed

The Recreational Therapist is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating approved recreation programs for patients in treatment. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for conducting recreational therapy groups and documenting in accordance with treatment plan goals.
