POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Recreation Coordinator performs recreation work in one or more of the following areas:
- Official, referee, or umpire in basketball, baseball, flag football, soccer games for league or tournament play, and/or softball.
- Scorekeeper in basketball, softball, baseball, and/or kickball.
- Site supervisor in activities and sporting events and with participants, coaches, spectators, parents, and possibly officials (18 yrs +)
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
- Supervises participants, students, and spectators, and facility according to league and sport rules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Official, Referee, or Umpire
- Ensures guidelines, rules, and sportsmanship are enforced; maintains safety of staff, participants and citizens.
- Officiates assigned games for leagues and tournament play.
- Assists in field/court set up and take down; reports field/court issues to the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Manager.
- Conducts safety and related inspections.
- Prepares reports and other written documents as needed.
- Resolves problems and conflicts on-site; reports issues with coaches, players, parents, or spectators to the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Manager/Site Supervisor.
- Complies with all Draper City policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Scorekeeper
- Keeps score of assigned games.
- Ensures rules are followed.
- Assists the Referee or Umpire in game management.
- Complies with all Draper City policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Site Supervisor
- Dispenses rosters and materials for participants, coaches, and instructors of each sport/activity.
- Assists in organizing participants into teams for each sport/activity, i.e., provides schedules for coaches of each team sport/activity.
- Organizes and sets up facilities when necessary for practices, games, or activities.
- Transports equipment in a city vehicle and assists in distributing equipment.
- Supervises and assures schedules are followed accurately during league play or activity; assists in coordinating, supervising, and assigning officials.
- Ensures guidelines, rules, and sportsmanship are maintained.
- Resolves problems and conflicts on-site; reports issues with coaches, participants, spectators, or parents on the field/in the facility to the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Manager.
- Complies with all Draper City policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- None, however preference is given to those with knowledge of sports activities.

- Valid Utah Drivers License

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires working outdoors. Tasks require a variety of physical activities. Regularly required to talk, hear, see, walk, sit, stand, reach, use hands/finger to feel, handle, and grip, climb or balance and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. May be confined to small spaces to perform work. Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. (Performance of duties may require working in varied weather conditions such as extreme cold or hot conditions.) Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and dusty or greasy conditions. Frequent exposure to high levels of noise. Operate equipment and drive vehicles.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Work schedules will vary between day and night as well as weekends, both Saturday and Sunday depending on the activity.
- Salary range: (Starting wage is dependent on experience.)
