Job summary

Lutheran Care Center at Concord Village in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking a Recreation Therapy Assistant to plan, implement, evaluate and document activities that support residents’ physical and mental well-being. You will lead group activities and provide one-to-one visits, working with volunteers and community resources.

The position is full-time, unionized (1199) with benefits, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced recreation setting.
• Minimum two years’ experience in short term rehab and geriatrics preferred
• HS Diploma or GED required
• Friendly, caring manner and willingness/aptitude for working with people at all levels and in all departments
• Visual, speech, and auditory acuity with or without adaptive devices
• Heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, other physical skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of activities that meet residents' needs while stimulating physical and mental capabilities.

• Collaborate with volunteers and community resource people; perform other duties as required.

Recreation Therapy Assistant - Full Time

Assist in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of activities that meet the needs of the residents while also stimulating their physical and mental capabilities. Lead large and small group functions and visit residents on a one-to-one basis. Work with volunteers and community resource people and other duties as required. $16.80/hour.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in a fast-paced Recreation setting.
• Minimum two years’ experience in short term rehab and geriatrics preferred
• Must have a friendly, caring, helpful manner and willingness/aptitude for working with people at all levels and in all departments
• Basic understanding of the needs of the elderly and those in need of long-term care and rehab services
• Basic knowledge of a variety of activities
• Demonstrates above average imagination, creativity, spirit of cooperation and friendly personality
• Visual, speech, and auditory acuity with or without adaptive devices
• Heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, other physical skills
• HS Diploma or GED required

• Available days, evenings, weekends, holidays
