Job summary

National Health Care Associates’ Glastonbury Center for Health & Rehabilitation seeks a Therapeutic Recreation / Activities professional to develop and oversee a vibrant activities program that enhances resident well‑being and joy. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to tailor meaningful experiences for seniors.

CTRS credential preferred; strong leadership, communication, and compassion are essential as you lead the recreation team and support families.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director to develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs for residents
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess residents' needs and preferences
• Provide leadership and guidance to the therapeutic recreation team
• Organize and facilitate activities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression while addressing residents' psychological, social, and spiritual needs
• Create a warm and inclusive environment encouraging resident participation
• Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust as needed
• Assist families to explore hobbies and leisure activities for residents

What You'll Do

As a Therapeutic Recreation / Activities professional, you will help develop and oversee a vibrant and engaging activities program in our communities. Your creative and compassionate approach will contribute to the overall well‑being and happiness of those we serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Director to develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs for residents
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess residents' needs and preferences
• Provide leadership and guidance to the therapeutic recreation team
• Organize and facilitate a variety of opportunities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression while fulfilling residents' basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs
• Create a warm and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed
• Assist families of physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individuals to explore appropriate hobbies and leisure activities

What You'll Bring

Qualifications

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential preferred
• Proven experience in developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs
• Strong organizational and leadership skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Compassion and empathy in working with seniors

Interest in the needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both
