Job summary

Millwood Hospital in Arlington, TX, seeks a PRN Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor to plan and implement activity services within the treatment team. You will provide patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Required are a Bachelor's in Art/Music/Recreation therapy or related field, with a preferred Master’s in Art Therapy. CPR and CPI training, plus First Aid, are required; shifts may include overtime.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art, Music, Recreation therapy or related discipline; Master’s in Art Therapy preferred.
• Experience: 1 year of related experience; knowledge of psychiatric patient care preferred.
• Licensure: Certification or licensure in art, recreation, or music therapy (state/national).
• Additional: CPR, CPI Behavior Training, First Aid certifications; may require overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activity services for assigned program as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patients.
• Attend hospital and departmental orientations.

The PRN Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

SHIFT DIFF PAY AVAILABLE FOR SOME SHIFTS.

Must be available to attend the Full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: Monday - Friday (8 AM - 5 PM)

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline, or a Masters degree in Art Therapy, preferred.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, recreation, or music therapy.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI Behavior Training prior to beginning work. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours. Current First Aid certifications.
