Job summary

Valley Hospital is a 122-bed psychiatric hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, offering inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs. The MART Department Therapist will plan and implement music, art, or recreation therapy services as part of an interdisciplinary team, guiding treatment goals and providing direct patient care.

Schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts (40 hours/week). Excellent compensation and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Music or Recreation Therapy or related discipline; or Master's in Art Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
• One (1) year of related experience preferred in psychiatric patient care.
• CPR certification required prior to hire; licensure/certification within 6 months may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement discipline-specific therapeutic services for assigned program as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Define and implement treatment goals and provide continuous patient care, observation, and role modeling to patients.
• Collaborate with staff to support crisis stabilization and rehabilitation programs.

The Music, Art & Recreation Therapies (MART) Department Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing discipline specific therapeutic services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Music, or Recreation Therapy, or related therapeutic discipline; or a Master’s degree in Art Therapy or Occupational Therapy
• One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: Art, Recreation, or Music Therapy, or the ability to obtain licensure or certification within the first 6 months of employment.
• Successful completion of CPR Certification prior to hire
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours
