Role Description The Recreation Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in Colorado Springs, CO, responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services to support participants' functional independence, wellness, and quality of life. This role plans, implements, and evaluates individual and group recreation therapy interventions, including activities such as exercise, arts, cognitive stimulation, and social engagement tailored to participants' abilities and goals. The Recreation Therapist completes assessments, develops treatment plans, documents progress notes, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to integrate recreation therapy into overall care plans. Daily responsibilities include facilitating structured and spontaneous activities, monitoring participant response and safety, coordinating resources and materials, and communicating with participants, caregivers, and staff. The role also contributes to program development, quality improvement, and adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess skills and experience in Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation, with the ability to design and deliver person-centered activity programs.
• Candidates should possess CTRS certification (or eligibility) and a solid understanding of professional standards in recreation therapy practice.
• Candidates should possess skills in documenting clinical services, including accurate and timely Progress Notes aligned with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field required;
• Experience working with older adults or individuals with chronic health conditions, cognitive impairment, or disabilities is highly beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to compassion, respect, and integrity in care.
• Ability to safely lead group and individual activities, manage time effectively, and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
