Job summary

Rock Hill New Hope Treatment Centers in Rock Hill, SC seeks a licensed Recreation Therapist to support residential care. The role focuses on improving physical, cognitive, social, and emotional functioning through structured Recreation Therapy, with emphasis on safety and quality.

The ideal candidate holds CTRS certification, a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Recreation), and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• All Recreation Therapists must have a current CTRS Certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.
• Bachelor’s degree (ideally in Recreation) with CTRS Certification and at least 1 year of Rec Therapy experience #NHTCNCSC

Responsibilities

• Provides accurate information regarding resident progress to the Director of Recreational Therapy.
• Ensures resident safety during all activities.
• Organizes, implements, and supervises Recreation Therapy activities in accordance with the treatment plans.
• Attends Treatment Team planning and critical reviews to maintain communications between residential, clinical, and administrative staff.
• Plans, organizes, and implements special events.
• Ensures resident hygiene needs are met by completing requisition forms and monitors hygiene items.
• Creates and posts monthly calendar detailing recreation schedule/activities.
• Develops and implements individualized treatment plans with goals and interventions.
• Provides documentation in the clinical record of residential behavior and interventions.

Job Summary

Job Summary: The Recreation Therapist assists with all aspects of Recreation Therapy, a service designed to improve or maintain physical, cognitive, social, and emotional functioning, in order to facilitate full participation in life. The unique job functions outlined are designed with a focus on safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides accurate information regarding resident progress to the Director of |Recreational Therapy
• Ensures resident safety during all activities
• Organizes, implements, and supervises Recreation Therapy activities in accordance with the treatment plans
• Attends Treatment Team planning and critical reviews as assigned to assure communications are maintained between residential, clinical, and administrative staff regarding recreation services.
• Plans, organizes, and implements special events
• Ensures resident hygiene needs are met by completing requisition forms for necessary items including hair cut/ cosmetology needs and monitors resident hygiene boxes for cleanliness. Also ensure all hygiene items are given to residents at time of admission.
• Creates and posts monthly calendar detailing recreation schedule/ activities
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with goals and interventions for achieving desired outcomes
• Provides documentation in the clinical record of residential behavior, and interventions provided (and their effectiveness of treatment) using the format and time frame approved by New Hope Treatment Centers.

Additional Responsibilities

• Completes other related tasks as assigned
• May require evening, weekend, and holiday work
• Participates in staff growth and development activities
• Provides direct resident care as needed on and off campus
• Participates in staff in- service and training programs
• Serves as a member of the Treatment Team

Essential Characteristics

• Demonstrates strong and written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates an understanding of child and adolescent developmental issues
• All Recreation Therapists must have a current CTRS Certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.
