Job summary

The City of Baytown is seeking a part-time Recreation Technician to support special events, summer programs, and athletic leagues for residents of all ages. You will assist with office tasks, promotions, and field setups at the Community Center and Wayne Gray Sports Complex, helping to create memorable experiences for the community.

Ideal candidates are organized, energetic, and comfortable working with the public.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record (ability to obtain TX Driver's license within 90 days).
• Must enjoy working with the public.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to speak to people in a friendly, welcoming and helpful manner.

Responsibilities

• Assists staff with special events, summer programs, and athletic leagues.
• Assists with daily activities and set-ups coordinated by the department at the Community Center and Wayne Gray Sports Complex.
• Assists with setup, take-down and inventory of equipment and supplies for department activities and programs.
• Assists with preparing and distributing promotional materials, communicating with citizens, city employees, businesses, organizations and media, and helping to secure volunteers.
• Assists with daily office operations: answering phones, taking registrations, reserving facilities, maintaining equipment and supplies.
• Assists with periodic field maintenance: dragging, raking, chalking fields, applying drying agents.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

This part-time position will assist the Parks and Recreation Department in a variety of areas to include special events, summer programs, athletic leagues, office management, preparation of promotional materials, and all other job related duties for the department.

• Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with daily activities and set-ups coordinated by the department at the Community Center and the Wayne Gray Sports Complex.
