The Recreation Therapy Technician assists therapists with Recreation Therapy programming and activities. This position supports patients and families, following therapist instructions to achieve therapy goals. Responsibilities include organizing and maintaining department cleanliness, preparing for activities and events, and performing clerical work.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment:

Current CPR certification

Experience REQUIRED:
  • Experience working with children with disabilities in camps, daycare, hospitalized settings, special education, or volunteer opportunities
  • Experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft Office, email, and calendaring
Experience PREFERRED:
  • Previous experience in recreational areas
Education/Training REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval. Work experience must be specific to the role.

Education/Training PREFERRED:

Two years of post-high school coursework in a human service, education, or related field.

Independent Actions Required:
  • Provide specific patient care activities according to instructions and supervision of therapists
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment
  • Document progress notes accurately and efficiently for co-signature by therapists
  • Support families and caregivers, including siblings, during treatment
  • Supervise volunteers as needed
  • Participate in program development, quality assurance, and improvement activities
  • Attend in-services and continuing education
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills
  • Perform other duties as requested
