Management & Training Corporation (MTC) Graceville Correctional Facility in Graceville, FL is seeking a full-time Recreation and Avocation Program Coordinator to supervise inmate recreational activities, counsel on behavior, and develop schedules in alignment with ACA, MTC, and FDOC directives.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field, relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, leisure services or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent and two years experience required.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide instruction to inmates in recreational activities.
• Counsels and motivates inmates regarding behavior, training, personal or work habits and problems.
• Prepare a variety of well-planned recreation activities including arts and crafts, individual and team sports, special interest programs and others.
• Develop and distribute weekly, monthly and annual recreational plans and schedules of activities.
• Manage and control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs and recommend purchases.
• Provide information regarding special and scheduled activities.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of participants as required.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
