NATURE OF WORK

Under the general direction of the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Supervisor-Athletics & Guest Services plans, coordinates, and supervises youth and adult sports, ballfield rentals, front desk operations, and general recreation programs. This position manages and supervises part-time and seasonal staff. Provides support to the coordination of special events for the community.

  • Leads and supervises workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs by using sound judgment and appropriately delegating and monitoring performance against predetermined standards and holding staff accountable for meeting day-to-day expectations.
  • In cooperation with Division leadership and HRRM, hires, trains, oversees scheduling, conducts performance evaluations, and handles employee relations issues.
  • Supervises program registration by establishing protocols and registration times. Inputs program registration and events data into registration and facility software to ensure accurate and up-to-date information; maintains program revenue and attendance records.
  • Creates, coordinates, and distributes promotional flyers and information for programs and special events; assists with social media promotion with the authorization and under the direction of the Recreation Manager.
  • Coordinates with the local school district regarding scheduling of school sites, athletic facilities, gymnasiums, and fields for recreation programs or events.
  • Review work-provided credit card. Gather documentation and allocate all charges to the appropriate account(s); provide documentation to the Finance Department for audits when requested.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community partners to promote programs and meets community needs.
  • Assists Recreation Manager, coordinates with the second Recreation Supervisor, supervises part-time and seasonal staff positions for Front Desk, Concessions, Recreation Instructors, and Officials including scheduling, creating expectations and standard operating procedures.
  • Development and implementation of youth and adult athletics and general recreation programming and league play.
  • Creates and maintains inventory tracking and check-out of equipment to coaches. Develops, assembles, and distributes written information packets for coaches and part-time staff.
  • Schedules and organizes facility bookings, City staff sponsored meetings, events, and recreation programs at the Riverside Ballfields.
  • Meets with customers regarding ballfield rentals. Conducts tours, processes facility rental agreements, and coordinates collection of rental deposits, payments and refunds as necessary.
  • Coordinates field set-ups and special needs with Parks staff to ensure requirements and specifications are met.
  • Oversees the Riverside Ballfield Concession Stand. Ensures compliance with all Weld County and State Health Department requirements.
  • Knowledge of principles and philosophy of leisure recreation, sports, recreation programs, special events and facility bookings.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSURE
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3 years of experience in recreation, leisure activities and facility scheduling.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
Preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience in public/municipal sector.
