Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position ofRecreation Specialist at the Riparian Preserve. The Recreation Specialist reports to the Naturalist at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch. The primary function of this position is to support the Naturalist in delivering educational programs. This includes the planning, preparation and delivery of nature-based activities, interpretive programs, field trips, camps and events.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Provide customer service by fielding inquiries and resolving conflicts via phone, email, and in person
Process program registrations and manage field trip reservations
Schedule, train, and coordinate staffing for field trip instructors
Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote educational programs and engage the community
Serve as the manager on duty in the absence of the Naturalist, enforcing policies and responding to emergencies and patron concerns.
Interact with park visitors by answering questions and sharing information that encourages curiosity, appreciate, and respect for nature.
This position will be required to work Saturdays on a seasonal basis.
This position is a Limited Term Agreement (LTA) and is only funded through 6/30/26.You are someone who effectively exceeds customer needs by building productive relationships and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty. Minimum Qualifications:- Associates Degree in biology, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Two years of customer service experience.
- Two years of supervisory experience, including program oversight in a recreation setting.
- Knowledge of planning, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating recreation classes, programs, and events.
- Knowledge of general biology, ecology, ornithology and botany.
- Skill in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skill in management and conflict resolution and emergency response.
- Skill in customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
